Notes from the second Free Style class. These arrangements moved from naturalistic to designed.

In Jiyuka:

  • the container is part of the arrangement

Elements to consider:

  • lines
  • points
  • mass
  • surface

Think about:

  • asymmetry
  • gradations of colour, contrast, accent
  • gradation of size

Styles

Naturalistic arrangements:

  • material is used as found in nature, no artificial elements

Artistic / Designed arrangements:

  • shaping, bending
  • wiring
  • stapling
  • taping
  • with or without artificial / decorative elements

Note: artificial elements refers to decorative wire, wood, or ornaments NOT artificial or dried flowers or greenery.
